Luminescence
Richard Whadcock & Gareth Edwards
Opens 1st November 2-4pm
Exhibition runs - 1st - 28th November
Our final exhibition of the year at the house, features an exquisite collection of paintings and drawings by esteemed artists Richard Whadcock and Gareth Edwards.
Together, Whadcock and Edwards create a dialogue of light and atmosphere - two distinct yet harmoniously intertwined visions.
This exhibition invites you to pause, to breathe, and to rest within the beauty of transition.
Richard Whadcock
Using the landscape itself as a starting point, Richard encourages the momentum of the painting process to take over, organically building its own unique patina and language of marks. Familiar details are expunged by a coastal mist, smudged away by a downpour or bleached out by intense low morning or evening sun. It is these transitions from one state to another that the paintings deal with; a dramatic and amorphous sense of place, rather than a specific capturing of one.e.
Gareth Edwards
In Gareth’s new body of work, light and memory intertwine. His paintings evoke moods that feel both remembered and imagined; moments suspended between presence and recollection. Each piece holds its own quiet drama; an emotional weather shaped by layered brushwork and subtle shifts in light. Within these landscapes, we find reflections of our own inner atmospheres - past, present, and continually transforming.
We open on Saturday 1st November 2-4pm and the exhibition will run for four weeks until 28th November. The gallery will be open every Wednesday 11-4pm and by appointment on all other days.
Artwork from this exhibition will be available to view online from 2nd November.
