Zoe De Caluwé
Zoe De Caluwé began her sculpture practice working with ceramics; teaching herself how to glaze and fire her work. Since then she has branched out into utilising various other materials; wood, ceramics, plaster and bread.
Playing with the boundaries of material value has given her a sense of freedom. She considers the nature of the processes she utilises, letting herself be guided by the properties of the materials.
Her work treads the line between natural forms and the artificially constructed. She aims for her work to feel soothing, yet, uneasy.
Zoe De Caluwé is a multidisciplinary artist and writer born in Germany, now based in Oxfordshire.
